Product information

Polyakylenglycol Typ P are  produced  rom  addition  of  propylene  oxide  to an  initiator  (n-Butanol  or  glycerol (PT420)).

The products are characterised by water solubility.  However they are not generally soluble in mineral oil, but can be readily mixed with many polar fluids such as esters.

They have  a highly polar polymer chain, which provides for high affinity to metal surfaces.   As a result Polyalkylene glycols possess exceptional lubricating properties.  The products have excellent thermo-oxidative stability which is enhanced further by appropriate choice of antioxidants, allowing applications well in excess of 200 °C.

These can be tailored to specific customer needs.   The use of long chain initiator can provide oil solubility to the low viscosity grades.

Application, for example

  • water  free hydraulic fluids,
  • gear  and  bearing  oils,
  • compressor lubricants for hydrocarbon and other gases,
  • release agents for rubber,
  • incidental food contact lubricants
  • heat transfer oils.
